A perfectomy is like a lobotomy for perfectionism. Mindfulness meditation is practiced instead of brain surgery. Perfectionists always have a harsh internal critic—the Strident Self. The Strident Self observes every move, every thought and is never pleased. Look for these shrill judgments in your mind. When you find them, label them as thoughts (after all, that’s just what they are). Next, return your attention to the present. Try to engage the moment with your full attention. Remember that things are perfectly imperfect when you can accept what is happening now.
