Don’t arrive hungry – Do not show up at a party or dinner starving or else you are more likely to overdo it on the appetizers. Pace yourself. Vineberg recommends previewing a menu before a party or big dinner if possible in order to try and plan a strategy. This removes some of the anxiety you may feel around food unknowns, and you can target the things you really want, not just what you see in front of you.
