If you haven’t already started budgeting, torn up your credit cards and downsized to accommodate your new reality, you’ve got a bad habit to break. But trust me, it’s worth it. There’s true peace of mind in the trade-off between surrendering whatever it was you once thought you needed to have and buy in order to be happy versus the freedom of trusting that you already have enough. This is the fifth and final bad habit. In its place, start spending less than you take in. Remember, you are only letting go of aspects of your life that have already outlived their usefulness. It will be painful at first. But I only said you were finally old enough to kick these habits. I didn’t say it would be easy, only that it will be worth it.
