Barbara Brown Taylor Preacher and Teacher Bio Page

Barbara Brown Taylor is a beloved Christian author and a professor of religion at Piedmont College in northeast Georgia. For 15 years, Taylor served in parish ministry as an Episcopal priest, and Newsweek named her as one of the country's leading preachers. Her book "Leaving Church" tells the story of her decision to depart parish ministry and enter into full-time academic work. She remains a priest in good standing in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta.

Taylor is also on the adjunct faculty of Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. An editor-at-large for The Christian Century and sometime commentator on Georgia Public Radio, Taylor is the author of 11 books, including "Leaving Church," "Home by Another Way," and "The Preaching Life."
