Sister Simone Campbell Sounds Off on Gun Control
Churches around the country will participate today in a gun violence prevention interfaith call-in to Congress. Sister Simone Campbell, executive director of NETWORK, a national Catholic social justice lobby that launched the Nuns on the Bus campaign, believes that a large societal problem lies in the amount of violence in sports, videos games and overall culture. "The idea that it's just gun control that just needs to be addressed I think is wrong because there's also the issue of mental illness, it's the issue of a culture that supports violence," she said. We've "got to control guns, but we've got to change our culture." Odyssey Networks in a non-profit media organization dedicated to building bridges of understanding between people of faith.
