Healing Hands

Sometimes thankless,
always exhausting.
Every now and again,
there's a moment
of respite that is a reminder:
This is a job that makes me
a hero every day of the week.

Being a caregiver
was not my calling.
From feeding and dressing
to offering my companionship,
I am the hinge holding together
the circle of life.

May all of us caregivers
who hold lives in our hands
fall under Your everlasting care.
Bless us as we deal
with the routines of life
and sit vigil when it leaves.
Honor our efforts with perfect peace
and abundant joy.
