For the Boys

BY: Lori Strawn

I admire Your Y-carrying creations:WForTheBoys
Rough and tumble,
straight from the womb!
Loud. Unafraid. Full of energy and life.

I pray:
May they never be told
by the world around them
that snips and snails
and puppy dog tails
is the summation of all they can be.
Teach them that it's okay
to be soft around the edges,
vulnerable, compassionate.

Let them never fear
or bury their emotions,
embarrassed by their strength
into feeling somehow weak.

Oh, Protector—
watch over my boys!
May they grow up
in Your loving protection,
into that rarest of treasures:
good and loving men.
