And since Abraham and the other patriarchs were holy, their children will also be holy. For if the roots of the tree are holy, the branches will be, too.

Holy moly - it's a very big deal to be holy! People of faith live for holiness. If you service God with increasing observance, you can raise your "holiness factor." Romans 11:16 talks about the Abrahamic ancestors who represent the tree of life. It's the perfect analogy: Biblical heroes and nature's own heroic plantings are One in the family of man and God.
