Depression can stem from deep-seated emotional problems. Childhood abuse, shame, lack of self-esteem, and feelings of inferiority can be at the root of the problem.
Stress and worry due to job loss, debt, and other financial problems can also start the cycle of depression.
Major life changes such as, loss of a loved one, divorce, retirement, or pressure from new situations, also bring on depression.
There's a very clear cause and effect between mental health and physical health. Depression is no exception.
