Eat, Pray, Love, & Laugh
In the soon to be released movie, Eat, Pray and Love, the heroine takes a year out of her life, visiting three different countries, to find her true authentic self. Recently, I did the Readers Digest version, by traveling to the island of Kona, for eleven days to visit my sister. It started out as a well deserved vacation; I had not had one for almost fifteen years. I was looking forward to my first Hawaiian luau, moving through the surf looking for shells and walking through a labyrinth… none of which by the way, I got to do.  My journey to self-discovery started when I arrived at the airport early, only to find that my flight had been delayed for two and a half hours. Disappointed, but determined not to let this upset me, I decided to “nourish my soul” with a Starbucks coffee latté and one of their outrageous oatmeal cookies. This I decided was a good lesson in patience. Content now to spend time away from the computer, I people watched and read magazines. Once up in the air, I was blessed by seating next to a very warm, spiritual woman who was returning home to “the healing” island of which Kona is referred to. Strongly recommending that I visit the Dragonfly Ranch for a time of renewal and contemplation, I put it down on the top of my “to do” list. Later, as I reached into my wallet so I could relax and watch a movie. It was then that I noticed my trip money missing! Every dollar I had saved…now gone. Notifying a crew member, I was told to fill out a form that would be filed, which was "their standard procedure." Read next feature >
