Things to be Desired
One of my favorite prayer poems is Deiderata, written in the 1920's by American poet, Max Ehrmann. My father had a simple scroll printed with this poem hanging on our bathroom wall, and for some reason, I always return to this simple, but powerful piece. As far as possible, without surrender,be on good terms with all persons.Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others,even to the dull and the ignorant;they too have their story.Avoid loud and aggressive persons;they are vexatious to the spirit.
