The lessons I learned in high school stick with me. Boredom means trouble. Learn something new. Move on. There's more, of course: Girlfriends can be mean. Boys lie. Love is not forever. I have a stockpile of other wise sayings taken from the high school playbook. But one stands out: Success in life is what you make it. Nobody else can do it for you. Don't screw it up. Pick a worthy target. Prepare for the moment you carefully take aim, and with great gusto - take your best shot.
