Every human being has equal value and dignity. It’s in the Declaration of Independence, described as a self-evident truth, “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Life is the first right. Without it, you can’t enjoy liberty or any other right. The first duty of government is to protect the right of innocent human beings not to be destroyed by others.
