Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama – What Do They Believe?

Beliefnet looks at the religious beliefs of President Barack Obama and Presumptive Republican Nominee Mitt Romney. Both men have had to deal with misinformation about their beliefs, and we seek to clear the air by looking at the differences between traditional Christianity and Mormonism.

"We have solved, by fair experiment, the great and interesting question whether freedom of religion is compatible with order in government and obedience to the laws. And we have experienced the quiet as well as the comfort which results from leaving every one to profess freely and openly those principles of religion which are the inductions of his own reason and the serious convictions of his own inquiries." Thomas Jefferson "We are teaching the world the great truth that Govts. do better without Kings & Nobles than with them. The merit will be doubled by the other lesson that Religion flourishes in greater purity, without than with the aid of Govt." James Madison "When I think thus, I imagine it great Vanity in me to suppose, that the Supremely Perfect, does in the least regard such an inconsiderable Nothing as Man. More especially, since it is impossible for me to have any positive clear Idea of that which is infinite and incomprehensible, I cannot conceive otherwise, than that He, the Infinite Father, expects or requires no Worship or Praise from us, but that he is even INFINITELY ABOVE IT." Articles of Belief and Acts of Religion - Benjamin Franklin DEISM at its finest. Thank you founding fathers.

Also, the Catholic bishop that mentored Obama, would still be mentoring him, except he passed away. Also, I believe one of the reasons Obama is for everyone having access to good quality health care is that one of his grandmothers' had cancer and could not afford good quality heath care. He has been there, he has seen the injustice. Everyone is created special and unique by God, but no one is better than another, so why should some have good quality health care and others don't? I have read a lot on Obama and Romney. Did you know that when Romney was head of Bain Capital it was struggling and he took a type of bail out from the government? If he is so patriotic why is Romney storing money in off shore accounts? Remember Kay Bee Toy & Hobby? Do you know why they are no longer around? Romney that is why! He made millions of dollars in broker and manage fees from Kay Bee Toy & Hobby while thousands lost their jobs. This is only one story of many! Would you buy a used car from Romney? Not me! I am voting on the person to me who most follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, and that's Obama. Obama isn't perfect but he is a lot closer to Jesus' social teachings than Romney or Ryan. Do the research and pray on it with an open mind and body to the Holy Spirit! Also remember the saints did not always agree with the rulings of the church! They prayed and did what they felt and believed God wanted them to do, even though it might conflict with the hierachy of the church at the time. God gave us brains, talents, time and treasures. We must pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance. Also, as a side note, The Jewish Book the Torah, The Islam Book the Koran, and the Christian Book the Bible, each have 15 of the same books with their book. Their are similarities within each faith. If you research and study maybe you wouldn't feel so scarred if we did have a Muslim president. I am voting for a person for Congress, who is Muslim. His beliefs line up a lot with Jesus' social teachings. What we have to worry about is extremists in any religion! Extremists in any political party or religion/faith are dangerous to the world! Also you can go to Temple, Masque, Church regularly and yet act like you are not following God's loving ways.

If the Mormon Jesus is not One in substance with The Holy Spirit (and he certainly isn't) and with God the Father (and he isn't), coequal with both (and he isn't), while also being a man subject to the will of the Father, then Mormonism is not Christian. I think Christian pastors are failing the Bride of Christ by failing to warn believers of Mormonism's false gospel. Obama may not be all that I would have him be as a brother. But he certainly does profess the same Jesus that rules the Christian Church. As, therefore, my brother in Christ, I must uphold him before God, praying that he makes godly decisions, and asking God to lead him in the proper direction. I cannot vote for Romney, despite that he appears as an angel of light. People - you are being deceived in a most dreadful way. The Christian Church is being blinded so that it is now eager to bring in the very first anti-Christian leader to represent the American community before God. Mormonism is not just an innocuous religion similar to Christianity. It is a goat among the sheep, tares amongst the wheat. It is indeed hostile to the Gospel that saves souls from the abyss, being full of the most damnable doctrines ever known to man. I would that our brother Obama would not choose to support some of the things he supports. But it is not up to me to hate him for his choices. God chooses our leaders. But when the choice placed before me is the choice between a wayward brother and wolf in sheep's clothing, I must simply not choose anyone. Whatever happens, however, I must pray for the wayward brother. The last thing I should do is choose the wolf. We are in a test. Do not deceive yourselves. If the church brings in the first anti-Christian leader of this nation, it will be creating a destructive precedent that will usher in an age much darker than what we now experience. As the Church, we must season our society with godliness. When men decide to place ungodliness before us that is dressed up as godliness, we must be wise enough to discern the failure and lead others away from it. Choosing the ungodliness of Mormonism merely from expedience is a death sentence with which the church should have nothing to do. (SEE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJFELjr5tjA) God bless you.

The time to allow the brand to walk nearly a hundred years is not easy, especially in the field of fashion, was born in 1867, Jeanne Lanvin, not only founded in the nineteenth century the LANVIN bag brand the name of her, but also because her own unique artlove with the conservation of the LANVIN the fashion of the Kingdom never blindly follow fashion.link:http://www.lanvinbagonline.com

AlanJay - Scottsdale, AZ I am a Christian and you have done a number of things wrong. First thing was writing the article. Are you mainstream media? We do not need politics on this site. Especially politics with improper research. How about the fact Obama was head of the Muslim Group at Harvard and professed to be raised Muslim. Rev. Wright, is a cult, a group of Individuals under the cloak of a Church that profess HATRED OF WHITES, AND HATRED OF CAPITALISM. Which Obama stated in July that people never built anything. I am so sorry to see your Horse Dung on this site. Mainstream Media and lies, and I thought this was a Belief Site. You just proved me wrong. Wait the Socialistic Platform kicks in, you will not have a newsletter if Oblama wins a 2nd term. And it is this type of media that will screws themselves. If you don't like Mormons, say so. But at least get your facts correct on Obama.
