As a Professor who has nearly 30 years in the field, I would start differently. The First question I ask students is "What do you think you might major in?" Then, I advise them to find which schools offer those programs. From among those schools there are many variables such as other possible academic alternatives, distance from home, lifestyle of the campus community, etc.
