You’re a Christian, But What About that Divorced Person Over There?
What should you do?
We miss not only being a part of a couple, but being accepted into the couples’ culture that pervades the Church. “I heard of a woman being told she needed to leave her couples’ group because of her divorce,” writes Corcoran in Unraveling: Hanging Onto Faith Through the End of a Christian Marriage. “I understand in theory that a divorcee no longer has the same issues that married couples do, and yet, I would bet she needed her friends during that season more than ever, and that just added insult to injury. It’s hard to always have a wingman, to always be someone’s partner, and then to all of the sudden always be alone. Invite us in. Or better yet, keep us in.”
