Children are just learning how to live, and as such are constantly receiving “correction” from their parents. When something goes wrong in the house, it’s frequently their fault – at least that is often their perception – and the correction is sometimes administered with emotion and anger. When a father’s PTSD – generated anger comes down on them, it’s natural for them to conclude that once again they have done something wrong. They need to be assured and reassured that this is not their fault! The child may have done something wrong, but they are not to blame for their Daddy’s inappropriate reaction.
