Expecting Mr. or Ms. Perfect. You aren’t perfect. Neither is anyone else, so don’t expect them to be. It’s okay to have high expectations – you should expect people to be encouraging, honest and kind. But expecting them to be perfect is unreasonable, and it’s about you pushing your own ideals onto others. It’s selfish, unhealthy and somewhat offensive. Before you start dating, sit down and realistically assess what character traits are negotiable – musical taste, sense of humor, maybe - and which ones are not – respect and honesty, hello!
