5 Fruit For a Blessed Fall
Best Friends Forever
"The better part of one's life consists of his friendships."
- Abraham Lincoln
My Facebook home page claims I have WELL over 800 friends. But really, do I? Sadly, I can count on one hand the number of high school and college mates that I remain close with. My mother has great friends. She doesn’t need a Facebook page either. And there’s nothing electronic about her friendships. She actually sends them notes and letters. It’s old school, but it is classic. And classy. So, while on vacation, I couldn’t resist purchasing a few cards for Mom to send along to a few of her quirkiest pals. I remember one in particular. “A friend is someone who knows all about you and loves you anyway” it read across the front in big, bold typography. It’s taken from the American writer and philosopher, Elbert Hubard. It’s so true. If you could tell those around you all about any skeletons you have in the closet, would they still like you? Cherish you? Think nothing of it? Better yet, still respect you?\
Have friends that pass this test. Better yet: be that friend to someone else. It’s likely to come full circle.
