Losing his leg didn't stop this inspiring Marine from doing his duty or achieving his dream.

loudowsonjr, I fully agree with Bushmaster. What you don't understand is that each and every Marine/Soldier/Sailor/Airman that is fighting in this war is not misled. They know exactly what they are doing and why. They volunteered to do the job that they are doing. Do they always like it or agree with it? No. Do you always like your job and agree with what you have to do? I don't think so. Don't believe everything you see on the news. It's owned by "those in power and those who steal from the taxpayers". There is real progress being made there, but they only show you what they want you to see on the news. You want the troops to come home and "protect our own freedoms that are being taken from all of the people in this great nation"? Well, sir, I say to you instead of using a forum like this, that is intended to HONOR those worthy of it, quit being like the rest of the majority of "sheep" in this country and take a stand! Call your congressmen and senators, vote, write letters to the editor, DO SOMETHING! Everyone wants to complain about something but most lack the backbone to really act. That is exactly what makes people like you and great people like Spanky different. He has honor, integrity, pride, and he is a leader. God bless him and the rest of our troops who are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice so you and others like you can voice your opinion and continue to live and thrive in this great country. Spanky, we know we love you! Can't wait to see you and your lovely wife again. Semper Fi from a PROUD MARINE WIFE!!! mrsceasar

loudowsonjr, I have one simple question for you? Would you be willing to give up your life to be able to speak your mind freely? Would you be willing to give up your legs for that same freedom? Maybe instead of using this American Hero's tribute for your soapbox you might ought to take the time to reach out and thank him. It is because of his sacrifices and the sacrifices of all of our armed forces you have the freedom to own a soapbox and your own political agenda. May I suggest making a sign and walking through your neighborhood with it and leave this tribute for those who wish to honor this fine Marine. To Spanky, I missed the first Patriot Guard Rider welcome home you received but I assure you I won't miss the second one. You and your fellow troops are in our prayers and we look forward to welcoming you back to Oklahoma real soon. Riding with Respect Bushmaster

For loudowsonjr: I'm sorry, but they came on our soil and deliberately killed thousands of innocent people. They hated us long before we ever went over there to them. Our men and women of the Armed Services are letting them know that America stands tall and proud and that we will never allow any act of terror keep us down. I am so proud of each and every Servicemember we have fighting for our freedoms, and I'm proud of everything they are doing. We didn't start this, but we sure are going to finish it. We need to pray more than ever, that the incoming administration will not allow our men and women fighting this cause to feel that it was all in vain. We didn't ask for this, but we have answered the call and the administration needs to let them finish the task at hand. God bless each and every one of them. Spanky -- you've got my vote, son. We love you!

While I am sure many see the service given by our fellow country men is a cause for everyone to support the troops, Yet in my heart I feel they are being mislead to fight in a war that has no real winners. Please don't conclude that I don't love our country, and the freedoms, I have. The only ones I see getting any thing out of this war, are those in power and those who steal from the tax payers. If our presents in Iraq was helping them find their freedom, I would say woderful, but all we seem to be doing is making others hate us even more. I am a christian, and I pray for our men in arms, that they will be brought back home, and helped with any problems they may face as they go from being fighting soldiers to a citizen. Prehaps in stead of fighting a war over in Iraq, they could come home and protect our own freedoms that are being taken from all of the people of this great nation.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom. God Bless you and thank for my freedom.

Thank you for your service and herosim. My son was only 16, and too young to serve our country, when he was in a fatal car accident in 2007. He eventually lost both of his legs and suffered permanent spinal damage. His younger brother also sustained serious injuries and has failed his freshman year of high school twice. This year he joined the ROTC and seemed to be making some positive progress but eventually the effects of post traumatic stress took its toll. He is coming so close to dropping out of high school and yet he is such a compasionate and intelligent teenager. Your story offers me so much encouragement. Blessings. Karen
