Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was one of many gunned down a year ago in Arizona by a crazed madman. Although she didn't lose her life, her recovery has been slow and uncertain. But this year she began to appear publicly again, often with her husband, and together they have have been sharing her incredible story of survival. Here she embraces her husband, Captain Mark Giffords, as he receives the Legion of Merit from Vice President Joe Biden.
