In 2009, the Helen Woodward Animal Center awarded Bell its Humane Award for her advocacy on behalf of orphaned animals. Also, in 2012, the vegetarian stars along side Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski in the film Big Miracle about an Alaskan campaign to save a family of trapped whales.
