Recognize that life is short -- for everyone. My novel, The Shortest Way Home, is about a family at risk for Huntington's Disease. HD is an incurable, terminal disease that is passed genetically from one generation to the next. If you have a parent with HD, as the Doran family does, you have a 50 percent chance of dying young. What would YOU do if you knew you had only half a chance to live to old age? Are there things you'd do differently? Things you'd stop doing? Risks you'd take . . . risks you'd stop taking? Life is short even without the threat of dying young. What will you wish you'd done differently when your time comes? Do them differently now.
