Julia Cameron shares the idea of “Morning Pages” in her book The Artist’s Way. This simply involves writing three pages in longhand every morning about anything and everything that crosses your mind. Don’t edit yourself. Just write. Write about needing to grocery-shop or the weird dream you had last night. Write about the song you can’t get out of your head, or the pile of laundry you need to fold. Write about how tired or achy you are. As Cameron says on her website, these pages can be petty or grumpy. Write what you feel. She also notes on her site: “Morning Pages provoke, clarify, comfort, cajole, prioritize and synchronize the day at hand.”
