But the question is how long? Either temporarily, or permanently. One will know which to do when they come to their senses.

You're right, Steinbeck. Thanks. That helps a lot. That will fix my situation. :)

Great analogy! Because if the two in love need time, then trying to fix it will just make things worse. But given time apart, their hearts will heal and they'll come to realize their love for each other again. But there are also those relationships that aren't fixable. Thank God my previous one is. Thank GOD!

That's beautiful. I look at love being lost as love still existing, however either one (or both) of two people that are in love forgetting or denying their love for the other. When their hearts heal, then they will discover once and for all if they were ever in love. If they were, then they still are, because true love never dies.

Rupert Brooke's quote: I'd have to disagree. If one comes to realize for the complete truth that their love for another has died, then they never truly loved that person in the first place. They only thought they did. I have been loved, and I have loved, and that person and I are still in love. The other just needs time to realize it again, like they have on numerous ocasions in the past. True love never dies.

But if it's the one you love, letting them go temporarily so that they can mature and grow and come to realize the love they once realized they had for you again, then in that case letting go isn't giving up completely. It's only giving up temporarily. So in the sense of giving up temporarily in order to let the one you want to spend the rest of your life with grow and mature, then realize they love you again, that's the context I would use this quote in. In this sense, I would agree with this quote. :)
