Norris Chumley Tip of the Day

Previous Next

Think about why you want to lose weight. An obvious answer may be "Just to look good." That's valid, of course, but beauty's only skin deep. Know that you may look better after you're thinner, but there’s just no such thing as a perfect body. You may say, "To feel better." That's good, too. Certainly, caring for your health, eating well, and exercising regularly will make you feel good, improve your mood, and increase your life span. It's possible you may say, "To like myself more." That's also understandable; your self-esteem may well improve. But I want to encourage you to start accepting and liking yourself the way you are right now. That'll get you a long way towards your goals. Whatever your reason for losing weight and getting healthy, I also want to encourage you to use the process of change, and the desire to improve yourself to come to know God better. Have conversations with your Creator. Ask for help. Try to see Spirit in others, and in yourself and what you do.
