Keep as much bad food out of your house or workspace as possible. You will discover that this is impossible. No matter how much you cookie-proof your house, there will always be a Girl Scout at the door. I once was doing well on a diet and my neighbor—for the first and only time in history—brought me some homemade latkes. First, do your best to keep bad food at bay. When bad food enters, throw it away, but don’t just toss it in the trash. Bad food has zombie-like qualities and can get back out of the trash. Instead, put it in the trash and squirt Windex on it. Bad food thoroughly soaked in cleaning solution does not get back out of the trash. It’s the food equivalent of a wooden stake through the heart.
