Baby formula contains sugar; a single serving (30 grams) of ready-to-feed infant formulas can contain from 3 to 13 grams of sugar—in fact most of the calories in formula come from sugar. The label may not always list sugar; in some cases, it lists “corn syrup solids.” Infants can benefit from lactose or natural milk sugar, but some baby formulas are designed to be super sweet. Bringing up infants on sweet beverages may explain our national obsessions for sugary soft drinks!
