The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that obesity in children doubled in over the last 30 years. However there is good news according to the recent CDC’s Vital Signs Report. States like New Jersey, Florida, Georgia and Missouri showed a decrease of one percent in obesity rates while Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Tennessee had an increase in obesity. Data of 12 million children who participated in federally funded nutrition programs were analyzed. Michele Obama was encouraged about the findings.
The First Lady said “While this announcement reflects important progress, we also know that there is tremendous work still to be done to support healthy futures for all children."
