First off, do not think of your child as broken; dyslexia is a part of who they are. Dyslexia can improve but according to Ben Foss, author of The Dyslexia Empowerment Plan, "They will never be in the top half of eye-reading ability compared to the mainstream." It is not impossible for dyslexic students to become better readers; however there will be times throughout their life when they struggle with reading. Dyslexia is nothing to be ashamed about, with the right tools and knowledge the situation can improve.
