It’s very hard to feel good about yourself when you’re surrounded by objects that tell you that you shouldn’t. Women’s magazines and diet books are notorious for promoting the messages that you’re not thin enough or pretty enough or muscular enough. So get rid of them! Get rid of anything in your home – including magazines, movies, books – that batters your body image, anything that doesn’t lift you up. In fact, toss the scale, too. All the scale does is force you to focus on the numbers. What’s more helpful is to focus on engaging in healthy habits. And drop the preoccupation with digits.
