A Passover Seder
This photograph, which predates the Russian Revolution, is of a Passover seder for Russian soldiers. The table is sparsely decorated with small wine glasses (for the seder's four cups) and candlesticks, and a handful of men hold Passover haggadahs in their hands. The stiff, unsmiling poses of all the men in the photo are remarkably uniform.
