Oh, and I would also like to add that men are also abused in relationships. Whether physically or emotionally, many men (yes, even those of Indian heritage) are abused. Although the wide number of cases are predominantly female, there still is the silent problem (since most men feel ashamed to talk about this to anyone) of women abusing men.

When a spouse abuses the other, it is one of the most shameful and ugly acts ever--the person who is supposed to be the person you trust is also the person who you cannot trust--it's just a ridiculously difficult situation and my heart goes out to all abused women. The best advice I could give to a woman (esp. of Asian heritage) is to get a job once in the USA. It not only exposes them to different ppl and ideas, but it is also a way to improve language skills, etc. The other thing that they could do is take a ESL (English as a second language) course in their local community college--that would help them to be able to effectively live and communicate while in the USA.
