What Really Happened on the First Palm Sunday
Approaching the gates
As our Lord approached the city gates in the midst of the crowds of singing disciples and onlookers, His heart was broken because he saw the hearts of the people that He came to love. Already they had rejected him and all the blessings He was to bring. So now it was time for judgment. But in this moment, the things that make for peace were hidden from their eyes.
That first Palm Sunday was a day of joy. Only a week later, the crowds would be shouting for His death. And He would die for them. Forgiving them. Redeeming them. And transforming mankind forever.
