Some Catholics may remember the days when we avoided meat every Friday, not just during Lent. Today, abstinence is not required outside Lent in the US but we are still asked to do make some sort of sacrifice on Fridays. The idea is to honor the day that Christ died with some sort of sacrifice on our part as penance for our sins. Here are a few ideas to make every Friday “Good Friday.”
(Note: Penance is not required, and is in fact discouraged, if a Church solemnity falls on a Friday, even during Lent.)
