Test Your Witnesses. Eyewitness testimony has been historically embraced as the purist form of “direct” evidence. But how can we trust that an eyewitness is telling us the truth? We can apply the criteria that jurors apply as they examine the reliability of courtroom witnesses as we examine the New Testament gospel accounts. If the gospel writers are reliable eyewitnesses, their testimony should survive scrutiny.
