Table Grace

An interfaith collection of blessings before and after meals.

Grace before Meals

Bless us O Lord, and these thy gifts,

Which we are about to receive, from thy bounty,

Through Christ, Our Lord.

Give us grateful hearts, O Father,

for all thy mercies, and

make us mindful of the needs of others;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen..

Book of Common Prayer (1928)

Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu Melech ha-olam hamotzi lechem min ha-aretz.

(Blessed art Thou, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe who brings forth bread from the earth.)

Jewish blessing over bread

God is great! God is good!

Let us thank Him for our food.

Children's prayer

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;

praise him, all creatures here below;

praise him above, ye heavenly host:

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

The Doxology

We thank Thee Lord, for happy hearts,

For rain and sunny weather.

We thank Thee, Lord, for this our food,

And that we are together.

Emilie Fendall Johnson

May the Lord accept this, our offering, and bless our food that it may bring us strength in our body, vigor in our mind, and selfless devotion in our hearts for His service.

Swami Paramananda

Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu Melech ha-olam borei pri ha-etz.

(Blessed art Thou, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe who creates the fruit of the tree.)

Jewish blessing over fruit

This ritual is One.

The food is One.

We who offer the food are One.

The fire of hunger is also One.

All action is One.

We who understand this are One.

Hindu blessing

O Thou,

Sustainer of our body, heart, and soul.

Bless all we receive

In thankfulness.
