OMG! I have been studying with a jw for nearly 2 years now! Attending meetings every Sunday. Trust me when I tell you they believe whole heatedly that Jesus is the only Son of God and it is ONLY through Jesus can we be saved. You need to get your facts straight! Who was Jesus talking to in the garden before he died for us? Himself? "Father, if you would, let this cup pass from me. Nether the less, let your will not mine be done."

I have a 2nd grade student who is a Witness. I have made it through Halloween and Veteran's Day--- although I am pretty sure he was uncomfortable with the Veteran's Day instructional lessons. I did not ask him to color the flag or military uniforms. However- as part of our state standards I do need to teach about the concept behind Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. How do I handle Thanksgiving? Turkey activities, coloring, Pilgrim children, stories, Squanto??????? Yikes! He is only 7, I don't want to torture him.

Ok folks - I do not care what anyone else believes, it is not for me to judge. All I was attempting to point out is that Jesus Christ is God and the only way to true salvation, peace and power in this world. Read what you will, believe the rules and laws of your religion if that is what you wish, but know that Jesus loves you and the only time He ever became angry was with the religious leaders and religion itself. Read God's word, love Him

To Giglovesgod - pretty much all religion is there to make you conform to their rules. If you read the Holy Bible, study God's Word, learn the love and power and protection that is there for you from Jesus you will find that the Roman Church as well as the Jehovah's are there to control you. Find a good Bible teaching non denominational church who will study scripture with you, will teach about Jesus, his walk on earth, his sacrifice and your heart will be opened. There is no other book but God's word. Beware of organized religion and study God's word, pray and He will come into your heart.

Trevor - If belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is important to you then I recommend that you do not become a Witness. They do not believe that Jesus is God, and pray to an Old Testament God. The Watchtower is a controlling and demands obedience to THEM. I would suggest that you research this group before joining. You will not find the love and power of the Holy Spirit of God here. Study the Holy Bible, not the Watchtower version. The Watchtower version will believes that our Lord Jesus was an angel, but they do not tell you that at the beginning. Just beware my friend, they are wolves in sheep clothing.

I have been studying with one of Jehovah's Witnesses at my school for some time. he gives me little books and the latest issues of the watchtower which i find very interesting. Although I am in the process of converting to Eastern Orthodoxy, the passages from the bible the watchtower quotes cause me to check my Orthodox study bible, thus helping me grow in my faith. I have been challenged to form a new opinion of Jehovah's Witneses. I used to think that they were just these annoying young, brainwashed men in ties that come forcing the watchtower on prople. I am now enlightened. Jehovah's Witnesses are fine, clean, and kind-hearted people with a real love for Jehovah. I went to my first meeting today. everyone as dressed very nicely. I was welcomed and not made feel like an outsider. It just melted my heart when I saw an 80-90 year old man give a little girl a hard candy. my grandfather did the same with me when I was her age, and he was alive. I really felt Jehovah's presence in that room. I hope to come back for many more meetings. It made me rather unsure about Orthodoxy. who knows, in a few years I may be called "brother trevor".

I was raised Catholic and went to Catholic school almost all my life, I never read the Bible because I was informed not to by my teachers as it will only confuse me therefore, I didn't. One day as I open the door to go to class (college) there stood a JW. I am not a rude person although I always hide from them... they pointed our several scriptures that left me wondering about my religion. That sent me on a quest to read the Bible and I did study with JW. Although, I'm not a JW I thank them for opening my mind, heart and soul to God. If it wasn't for them I would not have the relationship I have with God. I may not necessary agree with all there teachings however, they are very good people and for those who claim to be christians, believers, followers of God, etc and says such ugly things about people who tries and adhere to Gods commendments the best way they know how is not of GOD. I have choosen not to celebrate certain Holidays that are affiliated with paganism. People can pretty it up as much as they want however, it is what it is... Do your research and listen to the guideness of the Holy Spirit that is within you.

Jehovah's Witnesses reject all holidays even benign Mother's day, exception being the Lord's evening meal also called the Last Supper or Good Friday. WHY-Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t do Thanksgiving, and other holidays. I was born Jehovah’s Witness 1957 3rd generation,we didn’t celebrate Christmas. The reason JW’s don’t do Christmas is because their Watchtower leaders say so,the holiday has pagan aspects to it and by rejecting it the Watchtower appears “pure”. This “demand for purity” is one of the 8 marks of a cult.NOW the Watchtower can use this purity diversion to distract from their own false dogmas. The Watchtower leaders want us to be 'different' for the sake of being different.Jehovah's Witnesses are not 'happier' and are just as dysfunctional as families who do holidays. Jesus was not born on Dec 25th,but he also did not have his second coming in the month of October 1914,which is the core doctrine of the Watchtower religion. -- Danny Haszard http://www.freeminds.org/doctrine/bible/holidays.html

i just wantd to point out the pgrimm you seem to have a personal hatred for the jws because of this, on 1/1/2009 9:20:58 AM you wrote and i only copied and pasted, "...They won't listen and they are brainwashed, it's very sad that they believe they are holy." on 1/6/2009 8:58:32 AM "...My brother in law is a witness and he is brainwashed I've never seen anything like it." on 4/4/2009 8:02:08 AM you wrote " annasassin, I have never used the word brainwashed in my entries, you did" but you clearly used the words....you seem hypocrital of them when all they do is just believe deeply in something as strongly as you do, does that make you brainwashed????? you seem intolerant, and if you really believe in god and or jesus you would know that how others praise god whomever that may be to that person is there choice, no need to bad talk them, when they preach do they do it rudely or respectfully?? have you ever seen a jw bad talk your religion???? i have co-workers who are jws and they are much kinder more loving people then some of my family members, they are known worldwide as the most mild sweet people....now you tell me how thats bad in any way.....you say jws were started not that long ago but you are a born again, did yo know that born again is a term that has been widely associated with the Evangelical Christian renewal since the late 1960s, first in the United States and then later around the world? jws were established way before your faith was,,,,did you know that? maybe you should do research before you talk down on people who are much more tolerant then you are....

annasassin I have never used the word brainwashed in my entries, you did. I write what I write because it is important for everyone to understand that Jesus Christ is God incarnate. He was God walking among us, and it is through him that all was created. He lives still in within us and we can call upon Him and the Holy Spirit. I am not a Christian, I have no religion, I am a Believer. The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit are not three entities, they are the Godhead, Jesus and His Father are one. The Holy Spirit was sent as the comforter. This is a difficult concept to understand and understanding comes with prayer and reading Holy Scripture. Do not mistake my tone for anger or disrespect, it is an attempt at revealing the truth, the simple truth of Jesus. When He died on the Cross he finished the need for religion, He ended ritual and endless rules. He gave us Himself and that is all that is needed. If one studies the rules and beliefs of the Jehovah Witnesses they will see that they propose that Jesus Christ was a "spirit being". He was God who entered time to save humanity from the works of Satan. If we keep our eyes on Jesus He will provide. I constantly speak with Jehovah Witnesses let them in my home, that is what Jesus would do.

How is it that Jehovah's Witnesses are brain washed but born again's aren't? I'm serious. I have heard so much that Jehovah's Witnesses are brain washed and I don't understand how that conclusion is met. Aren't they just faithful like you constant preaching born again intolerant 'things'. Why is it that it is any of your business what other people believe? They aren't hurting you. Maybe just annoying you a little by knocking on your door.

Daughter of Eve I don't hate, I fear for those who pray to only Jehovah, who believe that Jesus was a spirit being, who deny his deity, who do not believe that He and the Father are ONE. Jesus is not an angel, he is God INCARNATE and if anyone tries to go to the Father by any other path is deceived. In ignoring the reality of Jesus deity, you make His death on the cross a waste, you make His sacrifice a sham. If you choose to call yourself a daughter of Eve, then you will never become a daughter of the living God. We Christians don't take the easy scriptures, they take the difficult one "Love one another as you would love yourself". In attempting to do this, we do not place down rules and laws for people to follow. Jesus didn't do it, only Moses did it and that covenant is gone with the coming of God's Son, Jesus Christ

Remember what Jesus said "I am the Door, those who enter by any other means is a thief". Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, Christian Scientists, are all questionable, only God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit as read in the Holy bible is real. No judgement, all forgiveness, no nonsense like do not celebrate this or eat that. It's just love and truth and that, at times, is difficult to accept. If you pray, pray Heavenly Father in Jesus Name, with the power of the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, if you believe in only addressing Jehovah, you are missing the mark.

Religious1 - nowhere in my previous message did I say that the Jehovas "might" believe in Jesus. They believe in THEIR version of HIm. Many religions claim to believe in things, but for the most part their beliefs are adulterated by their own rules and laws. If you read the Jehovah Bible, you will see that this religion actually says in it's pages that Jesus is now an Angel and NOT the son of God. Don' t be deceived by these renegade religions. What a person believes is their business, but being a Christian it is disturbing that certain groups claim to Christian, as in CHRIST, but in reality are not. Many layers need to be peeled away to get at the truth of what they are actually professing. Do what you will, but know that they are not what they claim.

Religious1 It is so subtle. Jesus, when he began is mission, stated clearly, in John Chapter 10 verse 30. "I and the Father are ONE". The Father the Son and the Holy Spirt. Jehovah Witnesses, if they reveal the truth about their religion they will tell you that Jesus is not equal with God, no less one with Him, if they told the truth they will tell you that Jesus was the Son of God, but a Spirit Being, not equal with the Father and is now an angel which is written in the book that they read, which is NOT the Holy Bible. The Witnesses do not believe in the Trinity because they do not understand it. When Witnesses first approached me they told me what your co worker is telling you, that they believe that Jesus is the Messiah, but in the true sense of the word. My brother is in law is a witness so I know the story behind the story. They are in fact against Christ and pray ONLY to Jevhova.

religious1

01/18/2009 02:59:33 PM

Hmm now you claim they might believe in Jesus... Well I questioned my co-worker about his belief in Jesus. He said he believes Jesus in the Messiah. That he was born of a virgin mother (Mary). That he died for our sins. That he existed in heaven before being born on earth. That he was resurrected in three days. No they don't believe that Jesus and God are the same person. They do believe that Jesus is Gods son though. As the bible says God gave his son for us.

Only1True God - The Jehovah Witnesses may us the word begotten but they do not believe that Jesus is God incarnate, that is an enormous difference and that is why they have no salvation which is derived from God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. This is a religion created not too long ago, by a man who created these rules and his own book. Jesus is the door, not an angel, the Witnesses changed the Bible at their own free will and removed Jesus' diety from that book.

pgrimm

Wow religious1 - One only has to look at this website to read that the Jehovah Witnesses might believe in Jesus, but the key here is that they do not believe that He is God incarnate. They believe that He is a "spirit being", created as an afterthought and now an angel. There is a huge difference between the two concepts. They may use the name, but they do not believe in His diety.

Wow Pgrimm you know nothing of Jehovah's Witnesses.... I'm not one myself but I do know that they believe in Jesus. I asked one of my coworkers why they preach door to door and he told me that it was a commandment from Jesus. I also overheard him praying once and at the end he said " in the name of Jesus." I also remember one scripture he shared with me from his bible that stated one should believe in God and Jesus. I believe it was John:17:3

If you read what the beliefs of the witness's are under salvation it said that you have to believe in God AND in Jesus, whom God or Jah declared as his only BEGOTTEN son. The Bible speaks of putting traditions or customs above the word of God and says that they are done in vain. If you would look up the origins of many of the holidays you would find that most are of Pagan origen. You don't have to be a Jehovah's Witness to believe or read these things in your own Bible. The Church of God also taught these things as did some Apistolic churches. Just as in Jeremiah 10:3 God is speaking to his people Isreal and says that the customs of the people are in vain: they cut a tree out of the forest...Jer. 10:4 they deck it with silver and with gold...I realize the subject is Thanksgiving, but sometimes you need to research where the tradition started. The Bible also says that man cannot direct his own step...ONE step! WOW! That is why we need to God's instruction manual to guide our steps. Do not lean on your own understanding...ask for the spirit to guide you before you begin. Blessings to you!

Thank you notbrainwashed. When you come down to it, yes the Witnesses are a cult and use scripture for their own beliefs and not that of God's word. My brother in law is a witness and he is brainwashed I've never seen anything like it. The most tragic thing about this organization is that it does not believe in Jesus Christ, therefore all their prayers drift into the wind and are not acknowledged. There is only one way, the Door, and they are too brainwashed by the Watchtower to be allowed to see the truth. I find the name of their organization interesting Watchtower, it's appropriate, they make sure you do whatever it is that they say to do. They discourage patriotism, belief in Jesus, what KIND of belief system is that?

Since when has thanksgiving been associated as a pagen holiday? I was never taught that, and my children werenever taught that. We ARE thankful everyday of the year, but this is a nice time to get the families together to share int he thanks. It's an extra day to make sure the family is gathered together in his name, and if it means we eat turkey or call it Thanksgiving, then what is wrong with it? The big picture sure is missed on these cult members. Also where in the Holy Bible does it say NOT to celebrate birthdays?? Or not to celebrate anything?????? The JW's have thier own celebration and drink wine and break bread, isnt that the same difference?? Especially since they make the biggest fuss over it and have 100's of 1000's of people attend? What makes that NOt a celebration in the name of God or Jesus? You can take so many versus from the Bible and use them to your own good, but not all of the Bible????? You cannot pick and choose when it comes to christianity. You live from the Holy Bible or you don't....................

This is in answer to Serenity - I am a born again Christian as well, and believe me, God is God, he is not human and would not be "insulted" or not "like" us celebrating. Please, There a very few things that He asks of us, love one another, love God with all of our beings, celebration of holidays is not even on His radar. Please we need to look at the big picture of God and stop pigeon holing him into this small thing. Belief in God's Son is all we need to know. This is where the Jehovah's miss the mark, they make sure that the world looks at them as righteous people, yet they don't recognize God's greatest gift, the sacrifice of His Son. I don't dislike the Jehovah's but they miss the mark, which translated means, Sin. They won't listen and they are brainwashed, it's very sad that they believe they are holy.

Hello! Is anyone out there? Does anyone really know that this religion is in fact anti Christ and denies the authentic Holy Bible? They clearly state "Jesus is not God", yet they go their merry way telling the world that they are "Christians" and "believe" in the our savior. Therefore, this group should not be called a religion, but in fact called a cult. Wake up People!!!!!! and stop acknowledging this renegade group.

This is completely agreeable..even though I'm not jehovah witness, just a follower of Christ....imagine if if you had children and they too something you absolutely hated and celebrated it around your house. How would that make you feel. Well, thats how God feels about the people of God taking these pagan holidays and turning them into something their trying to reverence him with...
