With Edward no longer in the picture, Bella and Jacob bond and become best friends. Jacob is in love with Bella and tries to become more than friends but Bella can not stop thinking about Edward. A fever sets in and evokes Jacob's inner wolf and becomes part of the Quileute wolf pack. Jacob, sworn to secrecy, can't tell Bella about being a wolf. Although it takes a while, eventually Bella discovers the truth.

Victoria's been hunting in Forks, trying to avenge James' death by killing Bella. Jacob and the wolf pack vow to keep Bella safe and hunt Victoria.
