“I never had any friends later on like the ones
I had when I was twelve.”
Brotherhood, friendship, life, death, and barfing – these
are just five of the numerous themes that Stand By Me touches on. At its core Stand By Me is a dark tale – the
pursuit of a dead body is hardly pleasant subject matter – but it is
an undeniably positive story about love and friendship. The bond that the boys make as they tell
stories, attract leeches, and run from trains is so inspiring for those of us
who have grown up. Their story is a
poignant reminder that life is really just one big adventure.
