Samson and Delilah was released in 1949 and is based on the story of Samson and Delilah which is adapted from the Biblical Book of Judges. Angela Lansbury, George Sanders and Henry Wilcoxon are featured in the movie.

Samson and Delilah was a very successful film, taking in $11 million at the box office; making it the top moneymaker for 1950. The film won Academy Awards for Best Art Direction/Set Decoration and Best Costume Design. The film was also nominated for other Academy and Golden Globe Awards.
