5 Surprising Folklore Twists
Little Golden-Hood
This version comes from "The Red Fairy Book" which was published in the 1890s. The little girl’s name is Blanchette and she is known by many as Little Golden-hood. In this version, the Grandmother is thought to be a witch. Her Grandmother makes her a cloak that was golden and looked like fire. The cloak was also thought to be made from lovely rays sunshine. The townspeople in the story eventually think the cloak is bewitched. This appears to be the only story in which the cloak was not red.
