J.R.R. Tolkien, who many say was one of the greatest writers of the 20th Century, was also a man of genuine faith. His life was a life of quiet but sincere devotion. He not only talked the talk, he also walked the walk and played a key role in leading his great friend C.S. Lewis, who was an atheist at the time, to accept Christianity. Tolkien’s faith had an impact on his fiction in a fundamental, underlying way. Whether you are reading the book or going to see the first of the three films this December, here are some things to look for behind the scenes in The Hobbit:
