By: Monica Wood
The novel takes place in 1963 and is centered around the close-knit Wood's family. Dad dies and mother is left to raise four girls by herself. Wood is able to pull humor from the emotional struggles and shock of growing up without a father.
Then president Kennedy is killed and Jackie Kennedy is left a widow to raise her family as well. The Wood's mirror the Kennedy's struggles and find hope and faith that others are also enduring and overcoming pain.
