His Montana Sweetheart
by Ruth Logan Herne
When Olivia Franklin comes home to help write her hometown history, she's determined to avoid her first love, Jack McGuire. But when Jack's "Old Timer's" baseball game intersects with Livvie's quest for history, the former sweethearts are thrown together to help raise money for the town's improvements.
Jack and Olivia are brought together by the town's centennial celebration. Liv Franklin finds herself divorced, jobless and sleeping in her old bed in her parents’ house, a situation that has "failure to launch" all over it. She comes home to Jasper Gulch to help with the town history and is surprised to find her old fiancé, Jack McGuire, helping with the upcoming Old Timer's baseball game. When she realizes how the town's history was shaped by the early settlers love for baseball, she agrees to help Jack plan the game. The old-time baseball cronies might be able to help fill in gaps in the town history, but really? She's excited to be working side-by-side with Jack again.
Jack's been a loner for years, his mother's death brought him back home, but he's kept to himself. Now? Being with Livvie Franklin again? Jack begins to see and appreciate his life and home. As they work on the game and Jack's ranch, both realize they belong together, but they shy apart for different reasons. Jack thinks Liv will waste her brains and talent if she remains, and Livvie needs to be convinced that Jack's in it for the long haul this time.
