Don't know if anyone has mentioned the Million Mom March yet. Check out www.millionmommarch.com for details and join me in Washington,DC on Mother's Day to march for sensible gun control laws (not *outlawing guns* -- just sensible safety for our society).

Ed, for once, I have to disagree with you. Outlawing guns is NOT going to keep them out of the hands of people who will abuse them, any more than outlawing drugs has kept them away from those who want them. If there is a desire, that desire will be fulfilled through the blackmarket and underground channels. The gun didn't go to that elementary school on its own. It didn't walk into the classroom and shoot that child by itself. It was brought there and used by a very disturbed boy. THAT is where the problem lies-- not with the weapon, but with the user of the weapon. Society must change, and its people must become more emotionally healthy and less filled with rage. Until it does, illegal guns will continue to surface and people will continue to use them in inappropriate ways. Metta, healing, and enlightenment to us all.

The other day I saw the President of the NRA tell an interviewer that his organization felt no responsibility for the Kayla Rolland killing. The sane among us must once and for all accept that the moral imbeciles who lead the NRA, including the illustrious Charleton Heston, are mentally incapable of understanding or caring about the swath of human destruction that their toys are cutting across America. The NRA is like a very large and dangerously psychopathic escapee from an institution. It cannot be reasoned with. It is quite powerful, and the only way to subdue it is with more power. We must recognize this. Sane people must band together to restrain this beast. We must vote. We must write to our elected officials and hold them accountable. We must pledge our support, in time and money, to our cause. In short, we must outdo the NRA at their own game. This is the only way that sanity can prevail over the Beast.
