- fun faith fact! Simmons' real name is Chaim Weitz
Chaim Weitz, known to millions as Gene Simmons, was born in Israel. His Mother was a holocaust survivor. The family moved to the U.S. where Chaim changed his name for the first time to Eugene Klein. He became Gene Simmons and donned make up for his band KISS, who would go on to sell over 100 million records worldwide. Simmons can speak multiple languages, including Hebrew, and in 2011 returned for a homecoming to Israel.
