Dominique Moceanu, born to a Romanian gymnastics dynasty, started her training at age 3. At age 10, she became the youngest member of the U. S. National Team and won 5 medals, as well as being a member of the “Magnificent 7” in the 1996 Olympics, the first American women’s gymnastics team to win a gold medal.
After retiring, Dominique penned a best-selling autobiography and a memoir, Off Balance, about her rigorous childhood training and her younger disabled sister, also an athlete.
Dominique is married to podiatrist and former gymnast Michael Canales. They have two children.
