- fun faith fact! He is one of the "lost boys" kidnapped during mass.
Lopez Lomong is one of the “Lost Boys.” He was six years old, attending Sunday morning mass when he was kidnapped along with 100 other children. He spent a decade in a Kenyan refugee camp after escaping violence in Sudan. He came to the USA when he was 16 years old. Lomong ran in the 1500 meters race during the 2008 Olympics and finished in fifth place. Since then he signed a contract with Nike and competes professionally.
Lomong’s adopted parents say that they adopted the Lost Boys because of their faith in Christ. They saw the advertisement for adoption of the Lost Boys and put their trust in God. Lomong has continued to spread his Christian faith by partnering with World Vision in Christian efforts to help children, families and communities defeat poverty and injustice.
