Michael Johnson

Before Usain Bolt, there was Michael Johnson, the fastest man in the world for much of the 1990s and early 21st century. Born to a truck driver father and schoolteacher mother in Dallas, Michael Johnson enrolled at Baylor University as a sprinting phenomenon, breaking Baylor’s 200-meter indoor record in his very first race on campus. That would lead him to his first gold medal triumph in the Barcelona games in 1992, followed up by a virtuoso performance in the Atlanta games in 1996 in which he won both the 200 and 400 gold medal.
